A seasoned, passionate entrepreneur, Rich has led several technology companies over the course of his 30-year career.
In 2001, Rich was founder and CEO of Hosted Solutions. Through organic growth and timely acquisitions, Hosted Solutions was acquired in 2008 for $144 million by ABRY Partners, a Boston-based private equity firm. Rich remained CEO of the ABRY-backed Hosted Solutions for two years, and his leadership cemented a sale to Windstream for $310 million in December 2010.
Prior to forming Hosted Solutions, Rich founded MPInet in 1996, which quickly grew to become the largest privately held ISP in Florida. MPInet was acquired in 1999 by Duro Communications. As an executive at Duro Communications, Rich acquired, integrated, and managed more than 15 acquisitions for the company.
Rich has received a number of accolades in his career, including five consecutive Triangle Business Journal Fast 50 awards, Triangle Business Leader’s “Impact Entrepreneur” in 2008, and the prestigious Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year for Technology in 2009.
Rich earned a Bachelor of Science in Building Sciences from Auburn University.
